Director of Product

Job description

The Director of Product is a leadership role focused on developing a seamless online experience for prospective and current customers. This role relies on customer insights and data to continually find and implement new and innovative improvements to our product.

You nerd out on great design and seamless user experience. You’re always looking to test, implement, optimize, and repeat.


UX Optimization

  • Create a seamless, simple, and delightful UX experience for prospective and current customers
  • Take pride in and ownership of every online touchpoint a customer has with Imperfect. The final buck stops with the Director of Product to make sure all things product and UX are exceptional for our customers and the public
  • Spearhead the continual improvement of Imperfect’s product and user experience and keep a constant eye on metrics to determine the performance of improvements

Product Roadmap Management and Execution

  • Help to shape product roadmap and goals. Translate the product vision into an actionable product strategy, roadmap, and opportunity backlog
  • Craft product roadmaps with input from cross-functional teams, data analysis, competitor research, and user insight
  • Manage third party developers and designers to execute the roadmap in a timely and effective manner
  • Create necessary spec documents, review mockups, and ensure that the product is built accordingly and functions as it should
  • Test feature releases to ensure all bugs are squashed prior to deployments
  • Work closely with other marketing directors to improve referral rates and increase traffic conversion via A/B testing of various landing pages

Customer Insights and Analytics

  • Define and analyze key metrics that will inform the product vision and direction
  • Analyze web data sources - Google Analytics, Kissmetrics, etc. - to understand where our customers are coming from and how to best serve them on our site
  • Continuously measure the funnel of web traffic for inefficiencies, communication opportunities, and customer behavior insights
  • Host customers onsite to garner product insights and improvement areas
  • Create customer surveys to better answer what our customers want, how to improve our product offering, and understand how our customer profile changes as we grow

About You

  • 3+ years experience in a product management role at consumer web product company
  • 2-4 years experience writing user stories, maintaining a backlog, and working with designers and engineers
  • 2-4 years experience managing other full-time professionals in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong technical interest and background
  • Strong analytical ability (able to easily create, track, and analyze data insights)
  • Proficiency using tools to manage the software development lifecycle
  • Strong, proven design sense (able to manage graphic designers to successfully create materials with a clean, professional final touch)
  • Highly organized and impeccable attention to detail
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve sustained high performance and morale
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
  • Energetic and excited about Imperfect and our mission
  • Ability to work well in a team-focused environment

Details of position

This position reports directly to the CMO. It is a full-time, best-efforts basis. Looking to fill position as soon as possible. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Position is based out of Emeryville warehouse/office.
